Do I need a Tundra screen protector?
So you got your brand new 2022 2023 Tundra with the 14″ navigation display screen and automatically you think – I need a screen protector! We’re so used to getting screen protectors for our phones and at this point we’re psychologically trained to protect all glass screens with something including the navigation screen. But do we really need it?
With phones it’s a small every day carry device. You whip it out to take photos, put it halfway into your back pocket (my fiancé does this), you set it on your lap and get out of the car. The chances of damaging a phone screen are high, but not so much a static display that’s in your vehicle. Do we put screen protectors on our 65″ TV? Perish the thought, I would accidently chuck a heavy object horizontally into my 14″ display and one day shatter the glass.
I’m not so worried about that, but I guess I’m just more excited to accessorize my brand new truck. It’s cheap enough. I bought the TTCR-II Tempered Glass Screen Protector available for purchase on Amazon and below are the install directions.

How to install the TTCR-II Tundra screen protector
Installation is super easy and takes only about 10 minutes. The kit provides alcohol wipe, cleaning pad, lint remover sticker, 14″ tempered glass, and a suction cup.
1. Remove factory screen protector
The factory 14″ navigation display unit comes with a thin temporary protector. Peel off the plastic by starting at one of the corners. Discard plastic.

2. Clean screen with provided alcohol wipe

3. Dry screen with provided cleaning cloth

4. Use provided dust remover sticker to remove contaminants

5. Attach suction cup to front facing side

6. Remove adhesive backing from screen protector
Avoid touching and getting finger prints on the inside adhesive side of the screen protector.

7. Line up the bottom edge of the screen and protector to install
Make sure to align the edges to the screen and avoid any contact with the frame. This will cause the screen protector to have a high side and leave bubbles in the screen. Once properly aligned, the screen protector will stick itself to the 14″ screen without any bubbles. If there are bubbles, use a credit card or plastic edge tool to squeeze out bubbles.
